Choosing a career is more of a personal decision. Most pediatricians say they love and want to help children and young adults, including their families. Being a pediatrician is a wonderful way to help children in ways that most people can't. Many people say that this job is very difficult to handle because it can become stressful. They say there isn't much room for personal or family time, but in the end it can be very rewarding. Some say this job is easy, but they don't live the life of a pediatrician. They say that all they do is examine and determine problems that may exist in children. In reality, pediatricians do much more, such as communicating with parents or social workers if they believe there is a problem within the family or prescribing tests if necessary. (Field, Shelly) They also recommend treatments, types of medications, surgeries, and rehabilitation. (Career Cruising) Many pediatricians engage with their patients by helping them through difficult times, such as puberty or family problems. They help them by assisting them when they need to communicate with a social worker, family member or any other healthcare professional. (Career Cruising) Pediatricians mostly encounter illnesses and other problems such as allergies, asthma, drug abuse, lead poisoning, and acne because doctors usually detect these things in the younger stages of life. (Career Cruising) There are many jobs where a pediatrician can work, such as a hospital, private practice, healthcare maintenance organization, community health centers, public, military, and government health clinics, and even schools. Becoming a pediatrician requires many skills and abilities, but most of them are skills that are used every day. The pediatrician's earnings are enough to earn a living.
