There are two things in common with all x-rays taken. They all have a story, and all stories are shared with the man or woman doing the x-ray. Almost everyone will have at least one x-ray in their lifetime. Most radiology technicians can make an impact on the lives of their patients, no matter if it is a positive or negative impact. While the patient sits there with mild or crucial pain, the x-ray technician must distract him from the pain while moving him to take x-rays. Most people don't understand how important X-ray technicians are. An X-ray technician could lead to misdiagnoses if they don't perform their duties properly (Career). They have many responsibilities: they must conduct X-ray film cassettes, make X-ray graphs and digital photos, develop, fix, wash, dry and archive X-ray films, keep records on X-ray film, and must assist in scheduling X-ray clinics (Diventa). “X-ray technicians use cutting-edge imaging methods to visualize, treat diseases or injuries with great precision” (Spako). They use many different equipment to take images (Spako). X-ray technicians use traditional X-ray machines, computed axial tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, fluoroscopy, film, and digital mammography (Spako). Another name that X-ray technicians will be called is radiographers (Decker). “Radiology technologists and their colleagues in the radiology laboratory provide a vital service, improving doctors' ability to diagnose and treat patients for a variety of diseases” (Decker). X-ray technicians work in many places; some include a hospital, medical clinic, or laboratory (xraytech). “About 61% of radiology technicians work in a hospital” (Becoming). Most of them work on weekends and holidays; some of them even work night shifts (Spak...... middle of paper ......ding career with a lot of potential.
